Reaching Families with Subsidy & Discount Information
Share Information Early and Often Through Different Channels
- Flyers: If RAS offers subsidy in your state/district, have subsidy flyers available through all the normal channels you distribute flyers: at your parent table, at your school’s front office, when you’re attending community events, etc.
- District Partners: Ask your district partners or principals to send out subsidy information via their usual channels. Use our Communications Templates to make the process as easy as possible.
- Events: When present at events, consider having a staff member whose sole purpose it is to talk to families about subsidy. Have a laptop handy so that you or your staff can show families the RAS subsidy website, talk about your state or county’s subsidy approval process, and answer any questions they may have.
Connect with Community Resource Providers
- State and county childcare assistance offices often have outreach coordinators who will attend events to speak about childcare assistance in your area. Reach out to your local agency to see if they have staff that can attend a table at a Back to School Night or other school event.
- Many school districts have staff whose role is to assist low income families. Connect with them and ask them to share information about the state subsidy process and Right At School with families in need.
- If you live in an area with a large military presence, your local military base may have a contact whose role it is to help families acclimate and find resources in the area. Connect with them and ask them to share information about Right At School and the Military Childcare in Your Neighborhood program with families who have children.
