What New Families Need to Know!
Marketing to Incoming Kindergarten Families
Families with children going into kindergarten have a lot on their plate. We want to meet them where they are to get them the information they need about RAS.
Quick Links
Overview
Families with children going into kindergarten may need more information and reassurance as this could be the first time they have a child in a before or after school program in addition to the school day.
In our messaging tailored towards kindergarten families, we emphasize:
- That Right At School’s top priority is to maintain a healthy and safe environment. We hire educators with experience in early childhood education, requiring them to pass a background check, and ensuring they complete a thorough training program.
- Each afternoon has the perfect blend of playtime, arts and crafts, and hundreds of all-new play-based learning activities.
- Our curriculum is designed by a team of education experts and designed to flex your kid’s brain and help them develop critical social-emotional skills.
- Flexibility to select from 1-5 days of care per week and drop off and pick up when it works for family’s schedules.
We also share that we have several discounts available and that we accept childcare subsidy in certain states.

Kindergarten Signage
Get the word out about kindergarten programs with our signage options.
- Banners and yard signs are the most prominent way to grab families’ attention.
- Place door magnets and window clings to amp up your signage – or use them as an alternative if your district doesn’t permit banners or yard signs.
- If you can’t display any permanent signs, consider purchasing a sandwich board that you can place outside each day, then bring in at the end of program.

Events
The key to introducing RAS to kindergarten families is to meet them where they are early and often. Kindergarten registrations and round-ups, preschool events, and school family events are all great times to connect with new families!
Making the most of School or Community Event
Most schools host kindergarten round-ups, kindergarten registration events, or offer information for incoming kindergarten families at report card pick-ups. Come prepared to introduce new families to RAS with plenty of marketing materials and swag!
Planning the Event
- Ask your principals or school contacts if you can have a table or presence at your district or school’s kindergarten registration nights.
- Plan to bring RAS marketing materials. Templates & materials are linked below. Everyone loves a freebie – fill out this form to order swag.
- If you have space, plan for demonstrations of actual RAS activities! Make sure families have a chance to see what makes RAS special. Use our curriculum activities, along with eye-catching activity signage and instructions, to keep families engaged.
- Make sure you have staff to work the event!
- At minimum, there should be 1-2 people working a general table where families can ask questions, get help registering, and receive marketing materials.
- If you have curriculum activities, you should also have a staff member working each one.
During the Event
- Use signage at the event. Bring your RAS tablecloth(s) and any large banners you may have. If you don’t have any signage, explore what’s available that fit your needs.
- Don’t let families leave without a kindergarten flyer and brochure, as well as some super fun take-home activity sheets!
Hosting Your Own Event
Introduce new families to RAS through an exciting, engaging event! Consider hosting an open house at a time that’s convenient for parents (after 5pm or on the weekends.) Set up curriculum activities, prepare games that are a fan favorite with your kiddos, and work with the marketing team to coordinate food or ice cream.
Planning the Event
- First things first: get permission from your school partners!
- Ask if you can use the school gymnasium, cafeteria, or playground (weather permitting) to host an event.
- It may make sense to host one larger event at a ‘hub’ school where all district families can attend.
- Pick dates and times.
- Host the event before school begins so we can get in front of as many parents as possible and give them more time to register.
- Schedule out an event at least 3 weeks in advance so we can assist you with properly marketing it.
- Set a time that you think will work best for your community. That may be 3:00 if you want to capture parents as they pick their kiddos up or it may be 5:00 or 6:00 (after parents get out of work).
- Order/buy food, snacks, or other incentives for attendees.
- Choose something that your community will enjoy, whether it’s pizza from a local shop, an ice cream sundae bar, cookies from a favorite bakery, etc.

- Work with your school to market the event.
- Have the principal send out an email blast and share our social post templates with your school/district’s communications team to share on their social channels.
- Ask your school if you can put a stack of fliers in the front office or put a flyer on the school’s entrance.
- Check your RSVP list! Consider setting up an RSVP list via a Google Form. It’s important to make sure you have an idea of how many families are attending so you can accurately staff the event.

Communications Templates
Working With Principals, Partners, & PTAs
Check in with your school contacts to request they share information out with each school’s families. Some schools may send more infrequent communications during the summer, so work with them to develop a plan that will work for their communications calendar and our enrollment schedule.
